Shipping & Care

Every piece is wrapped by hand in my studio and sent in a small box, ready to keep or to give. Here’s how shipping works, what to do if something isn’t right, and how to look after your piece. You’re also welcome to shop my Etsy store; orders placed there follow Etsy’s policies, not this page.

Shipping

Where it ships from

Everything ships from my studio in Woodinville, Washington. Live nearby? Choose “Pick up in Woodinville” when you adopt a piece, and I’ll email you to arrange a time.

Processing time

Pieces in the shop are finished and ready to go, and leave the studio within 2–3 business days. If anything holds up your order, like a studio break, I’ll email you right away.

Carriers and tracking

At checkout, choose USPS Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express. Both are tracked and insured, and you’ll get a tracking number by email as soon as your piece ships. The cost of each is shown at checkout before you pay.

International orders

For now I ship within the US only. Outside the US? Email me at studio@dannixu.com and I’ll see what I can do. Customs duties and import taxes are paid by the buyer.

Lost or delayed packages

Tracking shows where your piece is at every step. If it says delivered but you can’t find it, check with neighbors and your local post office, then email me and I’ll help you file a claim with USPS. Please double-check your address at checkout: if a package comes back because of a wrong address, the cost of sending it again is yours.

Returns & Exchanges

Returns

If a piece isn’t right, you can return it within 14 days of delivery for a refund. Every piece is one of a kind, so I don’t offer exchanges.

Condition

Pieces must come back unworn, in their original packaging. Return shipping is paid by you, so please use a tracked, insured service; I can’t refund a return that gets lost on the way. Once the piece is back in the studio, I refund the item price to your original payment method. Original shipping costs aren’t refunded. If a piece comes back worn or without its packaging, I’ll send it back to you with an email explaining why.

What can’t be returned

Earrings, for hygiene reasons, unless they arrive damaged. Pieces that have been worn, altered or damaged after delivery. Commissioned pieces (more below).

How to start a return

Within 14 days of delivery, email studio@dannixu.com or send a message through the contact form (choose “An order or shipping”) with your name and the piece, and I’ll send the return address. Please wait for my reply before sending anything back, then send the piece within 10 days of my reply. Returns that arrive later can’t be accepted.

Damaged on arrival

If your piece arrives damaged, email a photo of the piece and the packaging within 48 hours of delivery, and I’ll repair it or refund you, shipping included.

Changes and cancellations

Need to change your address or cancel? Email me within 24 hours of ordering. Once your piece has shipped, it’s a return.

Commissions

A commissioned piece is made only for you, so it can’t be returned or exchanged. We agree on the design together before I begin, and the 50% deposit isn’t refundable once work has started.

Caring for Your Piece

Everyday wear

Jewelry lasts longest when it’s the last thing on and the first thing off. Take it off before swimming, showering, exercise and sleep, and store each piece on its own in a soft pouch or box so pieces don’t scratch each other.

Sterling silver

My silver is sterling or Argentium silver (a silver that tarnishes more slowly), including the ear wires. Silver still darkens over time when it meets air. That’s normal and easy to fix: rub it with a soft polishing cloth, and store it in a small zip bag when you’re not wearing it. Many of my pieces are oxidized (darkened on purpose), so polish only the raised parts, and never use silver dip, which strips the dark finish.

Vitreous enamel

Enamel is glass fused onto metal, so treat it like glass. Its color won’t fade, but a hard knock or a drop can chip it. Take it off for the gym, gardening and washing up, and clean it with a soft, damp cloth. If your piece has stitching, keep the thread dry and never soak it.

Pearls

Pearls are soft and absorb what touches them. Put them on last, after perfume, lotion and hairspray, and take them off first. Wipe them with a soft cloth after wearing, keep them out of water, and store them apart from other jewelry so they don’t get scratched.

Repairs

Repairs

I repair my pieces within one year of purchase at no additional cost. Before approving a repair, I’ll take a look to check whether the damage comes from normal wear and use. I also offer repairs, adjustments and refinishing at an additional cost. If your piece becomes worn or damaged, email a photo to studio@dannixu.com or send one through the contact form.
